He graduated from Tulane University with a medical degree and established his practice in Donaldsonville. Shortly afterwards, Dr. Schexnayder bought a residential home and converted it into a small 5 room hospital. In the early, 1960’s, was on the board of the newly formed West Ascension Hospital District responsible for building the first community hospital, Prevost Memorial. He was loved and respected by three generations of Donaldsonville citizens, whom he treated throughout his life with a gentle bedside manner and the latest medical knowledge in the ever changing world of medicine.
