He served as Ascension Parish Assessor for seven terms, 1952-1980. Mr. Mire served as secretary, vice-president, and president of the Louisiana Assessors Association and as chairman of the Legal Study Committee during the years 1970-1980. He was a Delegate to the Constitutional Convention of Louisiana representing the Louisiana Assessors from 1973-1975. He was responsible for the first ever statewide assessment policies. He was co-founder and former chairman of the Board of First National Bank of Gonzales.
