Trasimond Landry

He was born in Ascension Parish December 16, 1795. A planter, politician, and lieutenant-governor, he owned several sugar plantations on both banks of the Mississippi River. He was second lieutenant, Seventh Regiment of the Louisiana Militia, War of 1812. He was elected state representative, July 1824, resigned 1831; delegate to Democratic conventions, 1828 and 1836; elected to state senate, 1832; elected lieutenant-governor, 1846; served as colonel of the militia during the Civil War.
