Leon S. "Bubber" Geismar

He was a graduate of Ascension Catholic High and LSU. He owned and operated Progressive Stores in Gonzales until the early 60’s. He was also a veteran of the Korean Conflict and WWII, and was a recipient of Bronze Star, two battle stars, and the WWII Combat Infantry Badge. He was a member of the Ascension Parish School Board for 16 years and served on the executive committee of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association, for six years. In addition, he is a member of the VFW, American Legion, and is a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He was also a Knights of Columbus Insurance Representative and helped form St. Mark, Father Clement Council of St. Amant and the French Settlement Council. He served as president of the Gonzales Chamber of Commerce and Gonzales Jambalaya Festival and was Jambalaya King IV, in 1987.
