A cattleman all his life, named Cattleman of the Year in 1974, Mr. Duplessis served on the state board for the Louisiana Farm Bureau and Louisiana Soil Conservation district for many years. An Ascension Parish School Board member for over 30 years, he also served as Chairman of the Ascension Parish Crippled Children’s Association. Fourth degree Knights of Columbus. Always a comical and happy man, his favorite saying was, “I’ve raised 5 things in my life; cattle, beans, kids, corn, and a little hell.” When he got older he would say he had given up the beans and corn.
