Unleash your inner-inventor! Come experience the successes and failures inherent to inventing and engineering projects, just like Rosie Revere. Inventors need to arrive at the Ascension Parish Library in Dutchtown, Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 10:00 AM to participate in the Rosie Revere, Engineer: Event for Young Engineers. Discover Rosie’s secret to success, build a paper plate hovercraft, construct a paper Rosie-plane to race, and work at a Tinkering Station featuring the Gizmo’s & Gadgets kits from the Little Bits collection.
This program is geared towards upper elementary students, but all are welcome to attend. To request further information, please call the Ascension Parish Library in Dutchtown at 673-8699.
The U.S. Department of Education provides billions in student financial aid every year for students attending college. But you won't see a penny of that unless you fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). As the name indicates, filling out the application is free, but it can seem daunting. A representative from the Louisiana Education Loan Authority (LELA) will be assisting parents and students in filling out your FAFSA forms at the Ascension Parish Library in Donaldsonville on Saturday, October 5 at 10:00 AM and in Gonzales on Saturday, October 26 at 10:00 AM. Parents and students will need your social security numbers, 2018 IRS income tax returns and W2s. All students attending will be entered into LELA’s $1000 FAFSA Completion Scholarship Drawing.
Registration is recommended. Students and parents can register by emailing your contact information to carmichael@lela.org. For more information on this program, contact the Ascension Parish Library in Gonzales at 647-3955, in Donaldsonville at 473-8052, in Dutchtown at 673-8699 or in Galvez at 622-3339.
