This two-hour seminar is designed for individuals who want to learn what it takes to start and run a successful small business.  The program will focus on helping participants learn how to determine the feasibility of their idea as well as how to obtain a small business loan.  Topics of discussion include the purpose of developing a feasibility/business plan, assessing business risks, marketing strategy development, management planning, financial planning, identifying sources of funds for business start-up, the do’s and don'ts of borrowing money, the loan application process, and the key resources available to get assistance.

Itching to get crafty this summer? The Ascension Parish Library in Dutchtown will be hosting its first “Coffee, Conversation, & Crafts” program on Tuesday, June 19th at 10:00am. We’ll learn how to repurpose those old string lights from Christmas by creating our own paper lantern tea lights. These lanterns are customizable and are great for any upcoming party or shower!

Toddler Storytime focuses on the needs of young children from walking through age 2.  Toddler Storytime introduces new words and ideas to the learning child through simple books, rhymes, and fingerplays.  A parent or caregiver must attend Toddler Storytime with their child.  This fosters a fun, positive learning environment for the child while allowing parents the opportunity to pick up great tips and techniques on reading to young children.

Preschool Storytime focuses on the needs of children ages 3 through 5.  These storytimes are an exciting half-hour of stories, songs, poetry, and active play as children explore new words, concepts, and uses of language.  Preschool children attend these sessions without the assistance of an adult to help foster the preschooler’s growing need for independence.  A preschool child must reach the age of 3 by June 6 to participate in this series.
